Build a new platform with usBouw met ons een nieuw platform

For some organisations, “it went fine” is not enough: they have to prove it. Ambyent makes the software that lets them, at any moment.

Our customers include companies in the food and pharmaceutical industries. Their equipment sends messages around the clock, billions a year. Every message is checked against the rules and stored, and not a single one is allowed to be lost.

We build all of it ourselves, from the software on edge devices to the platform in the AWS cloud and the web and mobile apps. Everything is new, there is no legacy, and the technical choices are being made now. You have a say in them.

Onze klanten zitten onder meer in de voedingsmiddelenindustrie en de farmaceutische industrie. Hun apparatuur stuurt dag en nacht berichten, miljarden per jaar. Elk bericht wordt gecontroleerd aan de hand van de regels en bewaard, en geen enkel bericht mag verloren gaan.

We bouwen alles zelf, van de software op edge devices tot het platform in de AWS-cloud en de web- en mobiele apps. Alles is nieuw, er is geen legacy, en de technische keuzes worden nu gemaakt. Daar denk je over mee.

What you can expectWat je kunt verwachten

Freedom
The platform is new and you build your own part of it, for example the data model and the APIs, the infrastructure on AWS, or the mobile app. You help shape what that part becomes.
Pace
We move fast. A lot happens in a short time and many choices get made, without layers that have to meet about them first. Do not be afraid to make choices yourself, even if one turns out wrong later; we encourage exactly that. Not everything is right first time; when it is not, we adjust and keep going.
Ideas
The best idea wins, whoever it comes from. We are not looking for a copy of solutions that already exist, but above all for how it can be done smarter. We challenge you to come up with unconventional ideas and solutions, within the scope and constraints of what we build. Simple where it can be, ambitious where it counts.
Beyond your role
We do not yet know everything we will run into, and chances are we will work on things we have never done before. Whatever your role, you are not afraid to step outside it. You find out for yourself whether there is room for an integration or a software feature. “That is not supported” or “that is impossible” sounds like a challenge to you.
Working with AI
The world has changed, and so has the craft of software engineering. You are aware of that too. We use AI every day, for code, infrastructure and documentation. AI takes over work you could already do yourself. You stay responsible for it, but it gives you room. Here we challenge you to use that room for the harder problems: the questions that do not fit in a prompt.
Location
You are based in Hengelo and will soon work in a new building that is now going up. Hybrid working is one of the options.
Organisation
Ambyent is a start-up within an established technical company in the Twente region: the pace of a start-up, with solid ground underneath. That lets us build for the long term.
Vrijheid
Het platform is nieuw en je bouwt er een eigen deel van, bijvoorbeeld het datamodel en de API's, de infrastructuur op AWS of de mobiele app. Hoe dat deel eruitziet, bepaal je mee.
Tempo
We bewegen snel. Er gebeurt veel in korte tijd en er worden veel keuzes gemaakt, zonder lagen die er eerst over moeten vergaderen. Wees niet bang om zelf keuzes te maken, ook als er later een verkeerde tussen blijkt te zitten; dat moedigen we juist aan. Niet alles zit in één keer goed; dan stellen we bij en gaan we door.
Ideeën
Het beste idee wint, van wie het ook komt. We zoeken geen kopie van oplossingen die al bestaan, maar vooral hoe het slimmer kan. We dagen je uit om met onconventionele ideeën en oplossingen te komen, binnen de scope en de kaders van wat we bouwen. Eenvoudig waar het kan, uitdagend waar het moet.
Buiten je rol
We weten nog niet alles wat we gaan tegenkomen, en de kans is groot dat we aan dingen werken die we nooit eerder hebben gedaan. Wat je rol ook is, je bent niet bang om erbuiten te stappen. Je zoekt zelf uit of er ruimte is voor een integratie of een softwarefunctie. “Dat wordt niet ondersteund” of “dat is onmogelijk” klinkt voor jou als een uitdaging.
Werken met AI
De wereld is veranderd, en het vak van software engineer ook. Daar ben jij je ook bewust van. We gebruiken elke dag AI, voor code, infrastructuur en documentatie. AI neemt werk over dat je zelf al kon. Je blijft er verantwoordelijk voor, maar het geeft je ruimte. Hier dagen we je uit om die ruimte te gebruiken voor de moeilijkere vraagstukken: de vragen die zich niet in een prompt laten vangen.
Plek
Je werkt in Hengelo, straks in een nieuw pand dat nu in aanbouw is. Hybride werken behoort tot de mogelijkheden.
Organisatie
Ambyent is een start-up binnen een gevestigd technisch bedrijf in de regio Twente: de snelheid van een start-up, met een stevige basis eronder. Daardoor kunnen we bouwen voor de lange termijn.

    You set up the infrastructure on AWS and manage the edge devices on site. You work with IoT Core, Lambda and SQS, define everything as code and can show an auditor that it is in order.

    What we are looking for

    • You are studying computer science, software engineering, computer engineering or something similar at a university of applied sciences or a university (hbo or wo).
    • You can program and want to get better at it. Experience with JavaScript or TypeScript helps but is not essential.
    • You have built something yourself, for your course or because you wanted to know how it works, and you can talk about it.
    • You like working with AI tools and understand that you stay responsible for what you deliver.
    • You work independently, ask for help when you get stuck and document what you make.
